From top Priorat producer Celler L'Encastell comes this tiny production, world-class red made from century-old Garnatxa and Carinyena grown in the steep, high-altitude Mas d’en Caçador vineyard. Aged in a large French oak barrel, this has rich dark cherry fruits with a touch of rosemary, slatey mineral notes, white pepper, and black tea—full, rich pure palate with a long fresh finish.

We charge a flat fee of £5.95 for delivery if your order is under 20kg, and £10 inc VAT if it is over 20kg. Free delivery is available for orders above £120 (inc VAT).
For Standard Delivery, we will ship items within 2 working days, provided the order is placed before midday.

The hills of Priorat are the source of some Spain’s most highly sought-after wines. Here the high altitude and iron-rich slate soils combine to create wines of great personality, depth and minerality. Carme Figuerola and Raimon Castellvi founded their small 8 hectare estate in 1999, making highly concentrated red wines from ancient vineyards up to 100 years old. They work their steep, low-yielding terraced vineyards entirely by hand and their superb wines came out well ahead of many more famous names when tasted blind.
This brilliant red is from low-yielding centenary-old Garnatxa and Carinyena vines from the steep Mas d’en Caçador vineyard planted to individual stakes at 500 mt above the sea level on the local licorella schist soil with a north exposition. Manually harvest, first Garnatxa Negra and later on, Carinyena. Grapes are destemmed. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 26-28ºC and maceration with the skins for 20 days in stainless steel tanks and then aged for 16 months in fine grain French oak barrels of 500 litres. Malolactic fermentation in the same barrel. Production just 400 bottles.
